Last weekend, we worked on the computers given to us. The goal was to install Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, Open Office, Adobe Reader, Skype and Avast Antivirus. Then Windows Update which was a lot! Some of the computers even lacked quite a lot of drivers.
Roger Heglum and Wenche Manneråk started at 15 pm on Friday and continued 10 am on Saturday. Nothing worked. Roger tried to find language packages and Wenche worked on finding english licenses. We didn’t find licenses for Windows 7 Pro English, which had to be the first step. It was easy to find in Swedish and Norwegian, but not english. We tried on ebay, but they just stole our money and no answer, even when written “Immediate license” in the presentation.
Finally at 6 pm, something happened and a very helpful man from Programvara.se could send the english version, – and the work started.
Since then hours and hours have passed in installing everything and so far 6 computers are complete. Just to install Windows 7 took 4 1/2 hours, then the update several hours on each computer. Then 2 hours on the rest of it. Some didn’t respond very well and needed special attention, but overall it worked well.
Hard work, but we are looking forward to see the eyes of our staff in Zambia receiving good computers with updated programs.
HERE WE COME IN OCTOBER, ZAMBIA. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN HOME OF HOPE ZAMBIA!
